Can I run the restaurant alone with NPC help?

Yes. The official description supports solo play with NPC part-time staff, and the launch patch documents dish-clearing workers. Their verified role includes collecting dishes, trays and empty drink bottles. That is useful cleaning help, but the available sources do not establish an employee who automatically handles the entire cooking and service operation.

The Steam store confirms NPC assistance. The Day 1 update provides the more specific duties below. A player also asked about hiring while playing alone; the checked thread supplied no detailed hiring instructions.

Cleaning task Current official behavior Boundary to keep in mind
Dirty dishes Dish-clearing staff collect them No complete cooking-duty list is published
Trays Staff collect them; tray storage starts with upper slots Do not assume unlimited tray capacity
Empty drink bottles Staff collect them and automatically dispose of returned bottles This describes empty bottles, not all stocked drinks
Staff dishwasher plate rack Dirty dishes can be thrown into it No cycle time or load capacity is stated
Dishwasher placement The staff waiting position is visible Positioning still needs a practical route check

No verified fee, wage, hiring level or exact hiring-menu path is available in the checked official material. Use the current game prompts rather than a guessed menu sequence.

Where should I place the staff dishwasher?

Use the visible waiting position when placing the staff dishwasher, then check the route between seating, returned dishes and the station. The waiting marker is a confirmed feature. Leaving a clear walking route is editorial layout advice intended to make staff movement and your own cleaning tasks easier to observe.

The update fixed staff stopping after a failed collection or return to the waiting point, and stopped staff walking onto two-burner stoves. Those fixes do not guarantee that every possible arrangement will work. Test an ordinary collection and return before relying on a newly arranged station through a whole shift.

The layout guide has a practical route test. Keep your own access to the dishwasher available as well: the patch prioritizes inserting dirty dishes from the hand or a tray when its door is open, and aligns start conditions with the control prompts.

What is a useful solo-shift routine?

Keep cooking and customer service visible while staff handle their confirmed cleaning duties. A manageable editorial routine checks supplies before opening, alternates order preparation with customer attention, and inspects returned dishes during quieter moments. It does not promise that hiring a worker removes the need to monitor the kitchen.

  1. Prepare the ingredients and dishes needed for the menu.
  2. Check that the staff station and its waiting area are accessible.
  3. Use a readable order workflow throughout service.
  4. Watch a worker complete a collection-and-return cycle.
  5. Check the dishwasher’s current prompts if dirty dishes accumulate.
  6. At closing, review stored ingredients, dishes and next-shift supplies.

Keep emergency tools accessible as described in thieves and fires. Neither the staff announcement nor its fixes establish that employees handle those events for you.

What persists at closing, and what should I save?

Refrigerator contents, including ingredients and dishes, remain at the end of the day even if the door is open; food on the food sample shelf also remains. These specific patch rules concern stored objects. They do not establish that every prepared dish or loose item persists anywhere in the restaurant.

Treat the closing routine and saving as separate jobs. The save-data guide explains Steam Cloud and backup evidence without assuming that overnight item rules define save behavior. As an editorial habit, finish storage checks and use the current save interface before leaving the game.
